Order Fulfillment

Good morning! Today I'm shipping out a nice Shimano 3 Speed Hub parts order to New Zealand! From what I understand, older Shimano 3 speed hubs are some of the more delicate ones out there. There are a ton of small parts inside each of them, and the pawls can deform or crack pretty easily under load. These Japanese hubs were really intended for lightweight riders and use. Sheldon Brown went so far as to suggest that they are not worth rebuilding, even if you could find a source for the small parts parts. All I know... is that this one order is beer money for the week:

Shimano 3 Speed Hub Pawls, Pawl Pins, Non-Turning Washers, Springs, and Flanged Locknut

When I first started selling these small parts, I intended to only offer shipping domestically.  However, I was receiving inquiries weekly about shipping overseas, and learned it would be a big part of this micro-business.  And besides, it is my sworn duty as a internal-hub-nut to get these hubs working, whenever & wherever they may have DNFed with a mechanical. (Sorry for the roadie slang... DNF refers race results in which a rider *Did Not Finish*)

Starting Anew

Hear ye, hear ye! Ya'll internet bike nerds need to welcome me back to the virtual land of bicycle snobbery!

I closed shop over at homebrewedbikes.blogspot - and while it was a fun outlet for a few years, it wasn't interesting enough to me to warrant further postings.

Over the past few months, I started a journey into internally geared hubs. These hubs have been a source of intrigue throughout my mechanical cycling career. I've come across quite a few small parts for these hubs, and it turns out that I may be the sole source for many of them. You can check some out here: eBay - PlanetaryPedalWorks. I am working to grow my inventory to become a more reliable source for some of the hard to get parts, and I hope to make some beer money from the venture.

However, what I'm more interested in doing here, is appreciating all cool internal/dynamo/coaster hubs and "non-traditional drive" bicycles. These hubs and bikes may not be ideal in the sport of cycling, but for the general bicycle rider, they can make terrific choices. These hubs satisfy my boy-like curiosity and renew my excitement in uncovering past beauties and ingenuity.

Welcome to Planetary Pedal Works,
where you'll learn that something old can still be revolutionary.
